Then in 1956, a U.S. spy code name "Kino" infiltrated a Soviet facility and confirmed that the Soviets had indeed discovered the same facts as we did. In fact, the Soviets were building their own "Cosmo Colonists Army" of similar fantastic vehicles to go and find more bio-metal 11 in outer space!
Memorandums go back and forth in the U.S. Government throughout 1958 about the progress and discoveries. Finally, President Dwight D. Eisenhower publicly announces the formation of NASA, but secretly NASA is only a cover for the formation of the NSDF (National Space Defense Force) under the command of General George Collins. The NSDF and CCA launch a space race to find bio-metal.
Single Player Campaign
As a commander in the NSDF, you begin your Training on Earth's moon, and from there you will travel to Mars, Venus, Io /eye-oh/ (a moon of Jupiter), Europa (a moon of Jupiter), Titan (a moon of Saturn), and ultimately to "Achilles" a fictional moon of Uranus, to which the game offers a sensible explanation. (This is not a spoiler website, I'm not telling the ending.) The campaign encompasses 17 NSDF (American) Missions against the CCA (Russians), and 8 CCA (Russian) Missions against the Black Dog squadron (Americans). It involves managing resources, building units and structures on-site (flexible choices), commanding units against the enemy forces, while protecting your own Recycler (the primary production unit) and your other assets. While Battlezone is primarily first-person, it also includes third-person and Satellite viewpoints. In addition to the game's missions authored by Activision, many aftermarket Missions are available as addons. Below is a Base from Battlezone Mission #1.
